I listened in for a few minutes thinking there had to be a mistake, but got up and turned on the tv to see the horror unfolding. My immediate thought was to run to the school to pick up my daughter, she was 6 years old. Todd, my husband, was on a roof working in Charlotte when the news got to him. He called and I ask him to come home. I think I was in a state of shock like so many others on that incredibly horrific day. I was glued to the TV for hours and days and weeks afterwards. Even though I did not personally know anyone who died, I cried for my family, for the families of the missing, for the families of the dead, for my country, and for the future unknown.

As we all think back to that most horrific and tragic day in our history, let’s remember and honor those whom we knew and did not know. They are true heroes, true inspirations, real people who left a mark on our soul.

Remember to live, laugh and love every day my beautiful friends!
